    Might be an urban myth, but there’s a story about a fella who wrote this essay in his Leaving Cert English paper when given the topic “Risk”…the essay in its entirety;

    This is a risk.

    (There then followed four blank pages)

    hilarious, example 5 is my particular favourite.
    A friend of mine at high school often wrote “only smarties have the answer”, perhaps a little too often, i wonder where he is now lol

    A friend and I had a competition where we would try and fit certain irrelevant phrases into every exam we did. The winner was the person whose answer seemed less contrived.

    My favourite phrase was ‘pathological fear and loathing’ – I must have written that in dozens of exams/tests in the two years we had the competition.

    Needless to say our teachers didn’t quite appreciate the competition as much as we did, although normally they were just a little baffled.

    I heartily recommend the game – it’s fun and it’s good for developing vocabulary!

    Our whole bio class had an essay test about water transport in plants. I got the whole class to get the 3 words ‘unimaginably’, ‘nevertheless’ and ‘remarkable’ into their essays. The idea was subtlety but some people went way overboard and inserted the words into pretty much every sentence which made for some interesting descriptions such as ‘nevertheless water continues to move the stem in an unimaginably remarkable way…’ teacher realised after marking 2 lol
