Son of Hamas Leader Converted

6 Jan

As the world’s media relays constant coverage of the developing conflict in Gaza, a Middle East story filled with hope was brought to my attention by Joshua Harris’ weblog. Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of an influential leader of Hamas who came to faith in Christ after becoming disillusioned with Islam in an Israeli prison cell and later deciding to read the Bible for himself. What a marvellous reminder that no one is beyond God’s saving power and that no situation is too difficult for God to act in.

You know it’s sdad that this is top news for you and not the slaughter of 500 civilians, killed by your ‘brothers’ the Israelis.

I think you have misunderstood me.

I am not claiming that this news story is more deserving of coverage than the horredous loss of many innocent lives in Gaza. I merely was contrasting the more prominent news story with this story which, because of my Christian belief, I regard as a story of hope. I would not regard the Israelis as brothers anymore than than Palestinians and I am appalled by the disproportionate actions of the Israeli military.

    Has that provided clarification?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

I think Joseph (has he goes by now) is a true inspiration. It also seems that the same determination he used while leading the Hamas Youth organization is now being used as he follows Christ. Really intense guy! And willing to give up his entire life to follow our Lord. Sort of humbling to a well fed, warm at night, have no needs Western Christian. Humbling indeed.

Yes, Revelation says you overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of the testimony. Mosab Hassan’s willingness to share his story is going to have significant impact for others among the Muslim faith that are seeking the real truth.

The most powerful weapon in the war on terror is the scripture he sites about loving your enemies. The only way to combat hate is to respond in love, just like Jesus would. I have seen it first hand in my own life.

I can’t think of any more important story, because true peace in the middle east will only come through Jesus Christ.

teachthemasses, sad indeed that many of those 500 dead you mentioned about were made to become human shields by their countryman…
