EP Volleyball Competition

29 Jan
Aside from the EP Weekend, this is one of the highlights of the Eastern Presbytery’s year. (that one was just for you Peter!)
11 Teams entered B.R.A Sports Hall for what was sure to be another tightly fought contest…………………….where either Dromore, Ards or Trinity would probably win it as has been the pattern in recent years.
Any ways, you know how it works, 3 groups, winners go to Semi’s and then a Final. I suppose I should give a mention to Dromore who reached the semi’s because James would most likely rip my head off if I didn’t!
It was a great final, Ards vs. (Surprise of the Tournament) Ballyclare, I dont need to describe much, just that Mark spiked the ball into one unfortunate mans face and that pretty much set the tone for the final! So ends another Volleyball Competition, Lisburn will have to get a few more practises in for next year, and maybe a few tactical signings………….
Praise God for these great times we have to have fellowship as young people in the church. Also a big shout out to Dromore who have now got Elders, fantastic to see God’s growth at work there.
Finally, a big shout out to Hannah Drennan, who was the real winner of the Volleyball Competition with “Nerd of the Year”. She actually brought a French Revision file to the event……..nuff said…………

Wow that’s a frenzy of comments! Although one has to wonder if MSN is a more effective medium of communication? lol

I think we’ve found out how to get people to comment Ali, insult them!

“Aside from the EP Weekend, this is one of the highlights of the Eastern Presbytery’s year. (that one was just for you Peter!)”

A good start to the report Ali. However, it doesn’t make up for the fact that ZERO EP events made it into your Top 10 for 2007. The youth committee met on Monday night and, having received no written apology from you, have decided you must be disciplined! Watch your back!

“Dromore, Ards or Trinity would probably win it as has been the pattern in recent years” … probably a little generous to Dromore who have won it once in the competition’s history! And a little bit of an understatement about Trinity who won it for about 15 years on the trot!!!!!!

Apart from that …. good write-up!!!!

Zero EP events in a highlights roundup sounds about right! :D

I think it is fair to place Dromore and Trinity on the same level as Trinity are no longer the force they once were as JD has left the volleyball scene and Dromore have a host of talented players many of whom were unavailable on the evening of the tournament partially due to the date change. Semi-finalists with 5 people missing is some achievement! The first choice team would have taken Ards!

Steelo: Was your top highlight of 2007 on SWS not entirely about the Extended Eastern Presbytery?

  14. Peter February 2, 2008 at 12:43 am #

Ha! So the cunning plan to change the date DID scupper Dromore’s chances?!! Excellent!

  15. andy mcneill February 2, 2008 at 1:41 am #

ha James and who are these 5 missing team members who you believe would be able to defeat the mighty ards?

  16. James McCullough February 2, 2008 at 12:09 pm #

    John George
    Heather George
    Andrew McMahon
(All part of of the victorious 2007 team)
Brian Rankin (2006 semi-finalist with Dromore and a former champion with Dromara)
    David Gamble (recent signing)

I was very pleased with this year’s performance as it was a real testament to Dromore’s strength in depth. I doubt Ards would have been able to cope with an unavailable list that length!lol

Never!! Squigley would eat the Eastern Presbytery for dinner!

Some say James takes things like this too seriously but…………
